Printing Materials
Choosing the right filament is critical to the success of your 3D printed part. At RVR Design, we offer a wide selection of filaments from a range of manufacturers to fit your individual needs.
PLA (Polylactic Acid)
PLA is the most commonly used filament for general prototyping and non-functional visual models. It is highly detailed, easy to print, and available in a vast array of colors. It is also biodegradable under specific conditions. PLA is not suitable for use outdoors or where it may be exposed to higher levels of heat.
PETG (Polyetheylene Terephthalate Glycol)
PETG is another popular filament, often used for printing functional, high-strength, and water-resistant parts. PETG is more durable than PLA and prints easier than ABS, while often having a glossy finish due to its chemical composition.
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
ABS is another popular, durable, and budget-friendly filament. It is ideal for parts that are functional that require both heat and impact resistance.
TPS (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)
TPS is a flexible and durable filament, with rubber-like qualities as well. This filament is ideal in situations where elasticity, shock absorption, and/or shock resistance are required. TPU is commonly used for phone cases, seals, and bumpers.
ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate)
ASA is considered to be an engineering-grade filament. This filament is popular for its high UV, weather, and thermal resistance.
